Surveys
Surveys is about the craft of the instrument: how to write questions people answer honestly, where and when to send them, and what to do with the responses. Much of it is written by Eylül Nowakowska Beyazıt, who runs CX at Survicate and tests her advice against our own survey data before publishing it. Several of our findings go against common survey advice: • "Shorter is better" is a rule of thumb, not a law. Microsurveys with 2 to 3 questions get the highest median response rate at 15.97%, beating single-question surveys at 9.75%. Longer surveys can hold up when branching logic shows each respondent only what's relevant. • There's no single "good" response rate. The 2025 median is 9.98%, and 22% puts you in the top quarter. Benchmark against your own channel and industry: SaaS sits at 7.74% while Fintech reaches 20.11%. • Where you ask matters as much as what you ask. Mobile in-app surveys hit a median response rate of 18.69%, more than double website widgets at 7.64%. Once people start, 75% finish, with a median completion time of 42 seconds. • Prompt purgatory isn't survey analysis. Pasting responses into ChatGPT and hoping for the best is where reliable insights go to die. Automation should keep you in the driver's seat, with every insight traceable to the source. Expect checklists, question banks, data studies from our own survey base, and the occasional wall of shame for surveys that got it wrong.
